EducationWorking in the most remote and marginalized area of South Punjab inhabited by mostly illiterate masses, the SYCOP works to promote the awareness about the importance of education through establishing NFBE (Non Formal Basic Education) Home Schools and enhancing teacher’s capacities by involving local communities, villages education committees, mobilizing District Government Officials to ensure the staff strength and regularity at school level for this purpose.
SYCOP started 10 home schools in remote, flood and rural areas. Free books and free tuition were provided to 25 students in each school because these areas had no Government or private schools and people without having money for books and uniform for their Kids, though strictly against education of their daughters. Due to incentive of free books and free tuition with motivation they started to send their female kids to schools. After 8 months in March 1996 PLC adopted 5 schools were to provide teachers honorarium and free books. In the light of these services later on PLC allocated 102 NFBE Home Community schools up to November 1998 gradually in two districts DG khan and Muzaffar Garh.
Capacity Building / Trainings:
To run this NFBE community school project we needed capacity building and empowerment of our NGO, so we prepared ourselves to provide training and awareness to teachers and communities. SYCOP has enhanced its capacity and have prepared enough material to administer Education Program. Now we have a strong team of Master trainers 5 male and 4 female trainers of Education Health Community Work, micro enterprising and human rights.
